Explore Historic Acadian Rustico with an authentic experience that will last a life time. Rustico is one of the oldest communities established in " La Nouvelle Acadie" following the Treaty of Paris in 1763, and is the oldest Acadian settlement in Prince Edward Island. From the cradle of comtemporary "l”Acadie de I”lsle” bordering on picturesque Rustico Bay and Prince Edward Island's National Park. You will be given a personalize tour of the Farmer’s Bank of Rustico, St Augustine’s Church and the Doucet House.
You will be extended an invitation to share in a meal with Jean and Margeuirte Doucet. This sturdy log house was proudly constructed by Jean Doucet for his wife and family in 1772. It’s an honor for Jean to have you join he and his family to share an evening meal. Margeurite will prepare vegetables that have grown in their garden as well as bread or biscuits and meat and fish cooked over the open hearth fireplace. This authentic historic dinner will be prepared for you in the same way it would have been prepared in 1772. The fire will burn down and you will eat and drink at the table by the hearth with the light of candles, enjoying the sight, the smells and the sounds of a truly authentic experience. There will be memories to last a life time.
Following the evening, you can walk along the lighted path of the promenade, past the historic buildings to the Barachois Inn, a five star heritage award winning inn.
