Come, visit our special place and enjoy the "Barachois Experience".
The Barachois Inn is nestled in the historic Acadian community of Rustico, circa 1763. Located at the heart of Prince Edward Island, we are less than a half hour drive from the Capital City of Charlottetown, only 70 miles/28 kms It is a large, elegant Second Empire building with Georgian influences, with a prominent Mansard roof characteristic of houses of the era, and has been described as a fine example of its architectural style and design. The Inn is furnished with historic and contemporary art, crafts and period antiques. Our guests are welcome to use the common rooms at their leisure for activities, get-togethers and games.
The Inn consists of two main houses, the Gallant House - built in 1880 by one of the area's most successful merchants, Joseph Gallant - and the MacDonald House, a newer facility offering four large suites that bring a modern feel to a historic era. These two houses provide our guests with the choice of eight different styles of private accommodations from traditional Victorian rooms to luxury suites, with scenic vistas over the Island's north shore, winding waterways and our Victorian Garden.
We are happy to welcome families with children aged 7 years and up. Our Inn is not appropriate for very young children.

Rustico is one of the oldest communities established in "La Nouvelle Acadie" following the Treaty of Paris in 1763 and is the oldest Acadian settlement in Prince Edward Island. From the cradle of this contemporary "Acadie de I'Ile", bordering on Rustico Bay and the National Park of Prince Edward Island, visitors may see numerous buildings and dwellings which together serve as a legacy of the past and commemorate the determination and ingenuity of the Acadians. There are eight major historic sites within walking distance of the Barachois Inn including: The Farmers' Bank of Rustico, a national Historic Site housing exhibits of the early days of the Rustico Acadians; the Doucet House 'Museum, circa 1772, an Acadian log construction and the oldest house on the Island; and St. Augustine's Church, the oldest Catholic Church on PEI, built in 1838.
Our convenient location on the dune-lined Green Gables Shore offers a range of activities to explore from the outdoor activities at our north shore beaches, fishing villages and PEI's National Park to theatre, music, galleries, shops and studios. Visit the Green Gables Heritage Place to immerse yourself in the landscape that inspired Anne of Green Gables or visit some of the best golf courses to be found on the Island, all within a 10-15 minute drive of the Inn. We are also within easy driving distance to Charlottetown.
